When it comes to Google products, the Teknatus team use them to the extent that we qualify to be poster babies. We’ve used Google docs, spreadsheets, forms and have Google apps running our emails. Pankaj and I both received Google wave invites early on, too.
Most of my friends who got on wave don’t seem to get the interface yet. A seasoned marketer asked me, “What’s the point of Google Wave?” Apart from the fad of using wave, people still don’t find it useful. It’s certainly not going to kill email anytime soon.
At Teknatus while we still use Google docs to manage various documents across the whole team, we’ve been using Wave as our ‘virtual white board’. It’s a great way to get brainstorms going and your ideas to flow. You can be having a virtual or a face to face meeting and take notes, create task lists etc. It’s the best solution if you don’t want to fiddle around with cumbersome project management software. Since the interface is intuitive, the person just needs an invite and they’re pretty much ready to use Wave.
All you need to do is start a wave, add your team members, add the list or ideas and keep editing them. Cross each task out as you finish or edit the wave to display the status of the project. Be sure to make a habit of checking it on a regular basis or send a notification to the person/team members who you’re waving to.
